Metal Casting Consulting
(MCC)
is a foundry consulting firm dedicated to the
development and advancement of the foundry industry. The
business is led by its founder and principal consultant;
Joel W. Yates of Spring Lake, MI. Mr. Yates has been
serving the foundry industry for over 15 years and has
held several managerial and technical positions. The

Mr. Yates
began his foundry career in the Midwest producing
safety-critical automotive ductile iron castings. While
the majority of his experience is in the production of
sand-cast grey and ductile iron, Mr. Yates has also
worked with sand-cast Aluminum and Copper-based alloys.

to his foundry experience, Mr. Yates is the instructor
of metal casting at Muskegon Community College in
Muskegon, MI. The college has a full service foundry
operation capable of melting Ferrous and non-Ferrous
alloys into green sand and resin sand molds. The classes

Educationally, Joel Yates
received his B.S. in Metallurgical Engineering from
Michigan Technological University (MTU) in Houghton,
Michigan. He earned his M.B.A. from Grand Valley State
University (GVSU) in Grand Rapids, Michigan while
working as a plant manager. Currently, he is taking
courses towards a Ph.D. in Organization and Management.
